I Solisti della Scala Milan

The Ensemble “Soloists of La Scala”, founded by Riccardo Muti and the Artistic Direction of La Scala Opera House, started its activity in 1990. It has been scheduled since the very beginning in the official season of La Scala Opera House. Formed by the principals of La Scala Orchestra, the Ensemble has been performing for many of the leading international institutions all around the world (Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Wien, Tonhalle in Zurich, Tokyo Suntory Hall etc.). The Ensemble collaborated with some of the most renowned soloists and conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Daniel Barenboim and Riccardo Muti himself as a pianist.
Andrea Manco: chosen by Riccardo Muti as principal flute of the “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra in 2002, becomes principal flute of the Orchestra of Turin Opera House in 2003, having just turned 20. He’s currently principal flute of La Scala Opera House and La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra.
Fabrizio Meloni: principal clarinet of La Scala Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra, he collaborates with leading artists such as Alexander Lonquich, Michele Campanella, Heinrich Schiff, Friedrich Gulda, Edita Gruberová, Hagen Quartet, Myung-Whun Chung and Riccardo Muti
Gabriele Screpis: principal bassoon of La Scala Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra, he performed for some of the most renowned musical institutions all around the world. He has also realized several recordings, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
Nicola Meneghetti: after having won the audition for principal bassoon in the Orchestra of Tuscany, he debuts very young in La Scala Orchestra performing the “Rite of Spring” under the baton of Leonard Bernstein, and becoming a full member of the group. He collaborates as soloist with the “Solisti Veneti”.
Francesco Tamiati: principal trumpet of La Scala Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra from 2002, he has also established a sustained solo activity, having performed under the baton of, among the others, Riccardo Muti and Daniel Baremboim.
Marco Toro: principal trumpet of La Scala Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra from 2015, he collaborated with the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland, Rome Opera House, “San Carlo” Theatre in Napoli and “La Fenice” Theatre in Venice. He is a member of “Spira Mirabilis” Orchestra.
Daniele Morandini: principal trombone of La Scala Opera House and Philharmonic Orchestra, he has been filling the same role in the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra performing as soloist under the baton of Zubin Metha. He has been appointed Associate Principal of New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
Giuseppe Grandi: bass trombone of La Scala Opera House and La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, he has previously been fllling the same role in Florence Opera House “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”, and in the Orchestra of “S. Cecilia” in Rome.
